About the event
TOPIC: Data Analytics - Remote Observation Sensing Systems (from hospitals to oil pipes, to roadways & infrastructure to farming and cattle to soil erosion)
Abstract: How does one use machine learning for multimedia data analytics? When you have thousands of photographic data and that data has cloud cover issues or other interference data, how do you determine accuracy and improve the likelihood of clean data that can be used for precise analytics where decisions can be made both in the short term and long term. The University of Alberta's multimedia research center has eyes in the sky and can run projects for almost any company in Canada and wider afield. Let's explore remote sensing data analytics from hospitals to farming to transportation, infrastructure, soil erosion, flooding, railway failures, and fires that affect everyone's lives.
Speakers: Joshua Billson & Fei Yang
Joshua Billson: Machine Learning, Functional Programming and Remote Sensing. Joshua is employed in the UofA's Multimedia Research Center, where he explores applications of machine learning within the field of remote sensing and smart agriculture.
Fei Yang: is employed in the UofA's Multimedia Research Center, where she explores applications of machine learning within the field of remote sensing, from counting cows, to cryptocurrency and visualizations of complex data. From computer vision to image processing to Java to PyTorch to Elasticsearch to Visual tools.
